Moving West? (apartment, condo, townhome)

Hey there, I'm a northerner thinking about heading west, I hate the cold, haha.

1. Budget (I make $12,000 a year at my current job)
2. House/Condo/Townhome? (Apartment)
3. Employment Status(commute/work from home) (I'll walk/bike to work)
4. Children(public school vs. private) (None)
5. Suburban or Urban lifestyle preference or a mix of the two (Mix would be nice, doesn't matter
6. Easy access to public transit, important or not? (Again, would be nice)
7. Preferable demographics of desired neighborhood. (Doesn't matter)

I'm in school to be a chef, and I will be done in a year, so I have plenty of time to make a decision, just doing some research.

Well, there's a lot of area west of Connecticut so you will have many areas to choose from. Perhaps you could select your desired location according to the cuisine you most like making?
