I just started working at a doctor's office. He said my wage is "competitive." I wonder how much other people earn.

I live on Maui. I am glad to hear about other islands too. When you reply, please tell me what island you live on.

How much do people get paid - working in a doctor's office?
-- Front office / receptionist ?
-- Back office / medical assistant / LPN / RN ?
-- Office manager ?
-- Other ? ........................... .................... ................. ......................... Mahalo! Lisa ;-)

you can check the website for maui memorial hospital and kaiser, I can't remember which one has the pay along with the job ops but one of them does. I would guess entry level reception in a doc office, if you were lucky would pay maybe ten bucks an hour. most jobs here seems to pay about 20 to 30% less than on the mainland.

You should post your question on allnurse.com. There are a few of us from Hawaii that post on there regularly.

The above poster is correct except I think it might be a little higher. I was offered a position once way back and the pay in the docs office was 14; way below what RNs should be making.

also seems like on one of the career websites (maybe careerbuilder.com - it has a salary calculator) is a tool that tells you what the going rate for specific positions in different areas is, i've used it before when working as an administrative assistant, as leverage to get a raise

Could you post how much you are making that he thinks is competitive?
Or just how much you think the position should pay.

I hear Doctor's offices are the worst for providing medical insurance, is that true?
