Not in our lifetime. The planes are bursting with tourists right now - in spite of our economy you could barely find a patch of sand today in Waikiki - in 2008 it was a near ghost town - now you can barely move in Waikiki.

I'm heading to the big Island in May, do you know if that time is any less busy than others or is it kinda the same all year around?

High season is when kids are out of school or holidays - busiest time are June - August and any holiday weekend and times like spring break. Airfare/hotel prices highest at those times.

LOL...I haven't heard anything along those lines. The economy is actually improving. Tourism is pretty strong, I believe---it sure looks that way if you go through Waikiki. Kailua at mid-day is full of tourists too.
