I'm a big fan of reduce, reuse, recycle . Glad to hear that there are lots of opportunities to do so furniture-wise in Hawaii! With that in mind, are lower-fume paints easily available there?
That bulk health food co-op sounds absolutely wonderful! We participate in similar groups here where we live. I'll be sure to ask about that once I know for sure we're moving to Hawaii. Thanks so much, everyone, for your help!

Yes, certainly... Home Depot, Lowes's, Tru-Value Hardware... they all carry them.
Awesome! Thanks so much! Have you used the shiptohawaii service? If so, do you tend to ship several things to them for one lump shipment (I noticed the $200 minimum thing)? Would that be good for perhaps a furniture purchase or something else that is large?
I used them a lot when we were renovating a house, and had no problems. It wasn't until about 1 year with them that I realized I knew the owner's (great people).

If you are a crafter, Joann's will ship here free when they offer a free shipping coupon (for orders $50+). It will take longer to get here though, but it does get here. I would allow about a 20 to 30 day window for your order to arrive.
I've been going on my favorite websites that I like to order from and putting something in the shopping cart, then when it gets to bililng info, I put in a Hawaii address to see what the extra shipping fees are calculate to, or if the free shipping option is still available... then I just don't finalize the purchase So far, so good....most of the companies are only charging an extra $5 for Hawaii and Alaska on top of normal shipping fees, etc....others charge a fortune or refuse to ship there at all. Some honor the free shipping deals, but exclude U.S. territories, which is good for Hawaii since it's a state
