So excited! Closing escrow closes next week and ordering Matson soon! Looking at places to rent loading ramps they look too short and the incline will be steep. Found this video online on how to make one. Just wondering how you other movers got your belongings in the container.

We decided not to even try. I had read so many different things about loading the container, packing the container properly, etc. that it was just too much. We hired a local Mayflower company to pack it because they were experienced in packing for overseas moving. We packed almost everything but had them pack the framed art work and wine glasses, and everything arrived intact.

No rocket science. A couple of crates as steps and a few strong arms. We had the container outside of our house and did it bit by bit. Unpacking the same way. Much easier to slide things to the edge than lifting them from the ground. Get yourself those orange shoulder strap sets which make it so much easier to manoeuver large items.

If you don't mind spending couple of bucks (not much) rent a big U-haul with a lift gate and back that up to the cargo container. Use the lift gate to lift things up to container level (or close to it)

Thanks everyone for your input! I'm just gonna get movers to load the container. Easier on my back and I don't have to bug family members to help me.
