Which island is best to stay on? I dont want to break the bank either so anyone who has info on great motels or hotels but which are cheaper would be appreciated.

Also are there water ferries between islands instead of planes????
like boat services between the islands???

Will you be looking for a "relaxing" vacation or will you want lots of nightlife and the tourist scene?

I think the Kohala coast of the Big Island, with a day or two in Volcano, is a great place for a more laid-back trip. Much beauty to see...

Kauai as well for beauty and a more relaxed environment. Molokai for a very slow-paced stay.

Oahu and Maui for more tourist-y things to do (that is not to say that these things aren't worth doing!) and more nightlife options.

There are ferry services--google search SuperFerry and check out Maui Molokai Ferry, Molokai Princess Kaluakoi Golf Course Golf Package

Default A little of both

I was thinking a little of both
i might even like to stay a week on the relaxing side and a week on the more nightlife side.

Any suggestions on cheaper places to stay but still good?

Consider a stay in Maui, then a trip by ferry to Molokai.

Or a few days on the Big Island with a flight to HNL. You can get good fares for inter-island flights if you look carefully and are flexible with your departure times.
