I had a friend who moved from Michigan to Oahu and ended up having to move BACK because of his allergies. I hope you've discussed your plan with an allergist. And DON'T touch your IRA.

should take a vacation to the big island, and hope you catch a voggy day, and breathe in all that microscopic volcanic glass, sulphuric dioxide and other goodies, and see how it affects you.

For me personally, the vog really screws with my eyes, and makes them all tweaky, as if I skipped a day's worth of sleep or something. People that is badly affected by it basically stays indoors and runs the ac non stop.

Ha ha. That's more urban legend than reality. You've been reading to much fake news.

Which female is it you have Mikala? Female cat? Female dog?

Now, had it been "you're" female, well, now that could have just been jealousy no doubt, eh?

Females have it so easy, they just bat their big eyes *flicker*flicker*flicker* of eyelashes and all the males melt and just give all the girls everything they want.

*snicker*snicker*snort*

Well, at least the OP isn't planning on bringing a cat or a dog and has already suggested they're willing to live with room mates to conserve rent. So, they could possibly move over here and make it. There's already a friend here so if all things fall through, hopefully they'd have someone to help them back up again. They're also the type of person who has been able to gather up some 401K to begin with. (Note: I keep using the ubiquitous 'they' since their gender is still unknown. Maybe they're of the persuasion of folks who can bat eyeballs and get anything they want? Wouldn't that make it much easier, eh?)

Well played sir, well played.

(I had written a bunch more in response to Viper's post, but then thought discretion is the better part of valor.)
