I think Amazon from a business decision just thinks Hawaii is to small of a market to deal with shipping. They’ve gotten so big they decided to not deal with it or at least in a minimal manner.
Agree, I stopped using Amazon. I use to order mainly books. But It did take two to three weeks to recieve.
We too here at Chez Rain Monkey infrequently use Amazon as a consequence of their slow delivery. They offer free shipping on orders that exceed a certain dollar amount, however I have found the time it can take them to assemble one's order for shipping from a 'fulfillment center' prior to the actually shipping of one's order can be lengthy. FWIW, my being a squeaky wheel to their customer service dept. regarding delayed shipping has on occasion seemed to have shorten up those order assembly and shipping times. As other posters noted, we too have found other online and brick and mortar retailers that
offer free shipping and seem to be able to have their products arrive to Hawai'i in a timely manner. Better yet, support business and the economy in Hawai'i. Buy local!
