Posted in the Big Island forum, however Alaska will also have non-stop routes from Sac to other islands so I thought it might be if interest here as well. Looks like Southwest (and Hawaiian) will have some competition.

Best to ask Alaskan, they're the ones who'd know where they go most likely? Here's their current route map:

https://www.alaskaair.com/content/route-map

If you're flying Alaska Air, they have a credit card that gives you a 'companion' fare once a year on Alaskan Airlines. There's an annual fee for the card, but if you use the companion fare every year, it saves money. They also allow you to use airline miles to rent hotel rooms, too. Since we get the companion fares instead of using the airlines miles, it's handy to be able to use the miles for other things.

Thanks for tip on the companion ticket. I’d heard southwest had that but didn’t know Alaska did something similar.

From SMF? Yes, to Maui. No to Lihue.

Alaska has been flying straight from Anchorage, Seattle, Portland, San Diego and, I think, Oakland to Kona for quite some time now. They also fly non stop Seattle to Kauai. Not sure if they serve Kauai from any other airports. Probably.

Southwest's companion pass is a bit different in that once you have reached their elite status you recieve a companion pass that allows you to designate someone to fly with you on all your flights for only the cost of their taxes and fees ($5.60). The pass is good for 1 year, unless you maintain your eligibility level.

I believe that Alaska and Hawai'ians companion passes are only good for one single round trip flight (at least for the ones tied to the credit cards).
