Hi everyone! I'm 18 & planning to go to the community college in Kane'ohe (or I might go to Minnesota) & going to take biology as a major.
I was wondering if there are lots of opportunities in Hawaii to work as a wildlife biologist (or other similar jobs related to wildlife such as marine).
I heard that the expenses in Hawaii is very expensive, even though my father told me not to worry about the money. Well, I'm actually a very simple girl who loves outdoor a lot!!
I'm chinese-indonesian and currently lives in Jakarta, Indonesia. But before I lived in Australia for 6 years since I was 7. So I guess I'm a very open & multicultural girl.
I'm so fed up with the city life!! I feel like I'm a outdoor girl who's stuck in a city!
I've never been to Hawaii, so I'm having some doubts about moving there...
So it would be great if you give some advise!!!

Thanx-a-lot!

Hey blue7ven!

I'm planning to move to Hawaii for college too. I'm looking at Hawaii Pacific University or Chaminade University. One thing I know for sure is tht Hawaii is VERY expensive. . . the groceries, the gas, rent, etc. I've never been to Hawaii so I'm a little nervous about going there too. . . Overall Hawaii is amazing, especially if you're an outdoor girl. There's 8 islands and always something to do without having to worry about spending money. It's just the living expenses you have to worry about. I hear there's a lot of entry-level jobs around and I'm sure in such a tropical place there's plenty of jobs involving wildlife.

Good luck!

Hawaii is pretty much one of the best places in the world to live. The weather is awesome all year long and the people are very diverse and friendly. Since you are Asian you fit in very well. It is expensive though, expect to pay around 1200 for one bedroom apartment.

You'll do fine! Hawaii is the place to be for an outdoor person. The weather is great, and if you are going for the biology, especially the marine biology, Hawaii is the perfect place for that. Very expensive, there. Everything has to be shipped over. Hawaii is in the middle of nowhere, so it's going to take money for anything to be sent there. Housing is so expensive there, but if it's just you, it shouldn't be all that bad.
