I have close friends who were headed to Kauai in April. The booked a condo through VRBO ($4,000). Like most people they have decided it would be unsafe to go and contacted VRBO, who will do NOTHING about helping them secure a refund. "Contact the owner directly" was their only advice.
The owner said "no".
Update: My friends have now been offered rescheduling for the condo. They don't want that without knowing if the owner will still be in business a year from now. Through the Rental Agent they have insisted on getting their money back. Chances are some percentage will eventually be offered.
Meanwhile, last week United Airlines changed their flights from LAX-Kauai non-stop, to LAX-Denver-Honolulu-Kauai.
They refused the change and today, United refunded the $3600 for their 2 first-class tickets.

I wonder how they pulled that one off - it is well publicized United is only offering flight credits and not refunds for some time now

Could it be because United cancelled my friends' flight rather than my friends cancelling?
Or possibly because he travels a lot for business and has high tier status?
Just guessing, obviously.
I can report that there has been at least one COVID case associated with JBPHH. I don't think the person lived on base, but he was on the base for leisure purposes.
Well, as we all now know, starting tomorrow night at midnight, there's a mandatory 'stay at home' for the entire state. Only essential trips (grocery, doctor, etc.) and only essential places open.
A lot of airline flights have been cancelled, but we already know that, too.
So, no, don't plan any Hawaii vacation any time soon.

Hawaiian has cancelled every mainland flight starting Thursday except a single flight to/from LAX. No other long haul flight except a weekly American Samoa flight.
I'd expect every other airline to cancel all their flights very soon.
The state will be on lockdown - welcome to the most remote populated place on earth.
Anyone ever see 50% unemployment? It's coming - many will be lucky if it is a furlough Friday situation and not an outright layoff from the County/State
West Side Maui condo buildings are closing the pools and putting away lawn furniture. Beach parks, public parks, and some beaches are closed. Today, I never saw a single boat go past my place and no one was in the ocean.
I don't agree with closing public restrooms. What facilities are the homeless going to use instead?
The bushes of course. The beach showers are where they bathe. Is anyone better off if they are unclean?

They closed all the public parks and beaches, seeing a lot more homeless lining the sidewalks
What do you folk's think will happen to the real estate values on Oahu ? Or. ongoing major real estate projects on the West side like Ho' opili ? And no, I'm not considering a move just curious how you think this will play out assuming no vaccine or viable medical treatment for a year or more ?

Depends on how long this lasts.
I think we are looking at 50% unemployment very soon as the hotels close.
It isn't a stretch that the West Side, Ewa, and Central Oahu parts of the island take a 20%+ drop - with town side neighborhoods, Windward, and the East side more in the 10%+ drop range.
This is my optimistic forecast assuming we really open in May. If we are still closed for business all of May - add another 10%+ to the above numbers.
