It's best if you go through vrbo.com to find a rental, whether it is for a vacation rental or for a relocation. We did, and had a VERY, VERY positive experience. The owner has worked with us ALL THE WAY! We relocated to Hawaii and asked him for an extended lease rather than just a vacation rental price. He has been in constant contact with us, and we have had absolutely no problems. We moved in only from what we saw on the vrbo listing and it is just as it was represented...furniture and all. I highly recommend vrbo.
One of the keys is that owners PAY to have their property represented on vrbo and similar sites. Craigslist is free to post, thereby attracting every wannabee scammer.
