Aloha! I am a 24 year old guy from Germany. I have a finished IT apprenticeship and experience in that field (worked for some companies, I have an own webhosting company). I currently travel through Australia and New Zealand but after that I think about relocating to Hawaii. I was on Maui for two weeks last summer and I loved it. I have applied for a green card and if I should be lucky enough to get it I would like to move to Hawaii (I have saved some money).
Could you please help me with some questions / facts?

1. To rent an apartment seems to be pretty expensive. The cheapest apartments I have found start at 1000USD/month. Is it really so expensive?

2. I am not sure which is the best island for me: Oahu, Maui or Hawaii. What is the best place to start, get a job and meet some people?

3. I would like to work in an IT company/office/department but I am also open to new jobs. Is it easy to get a job in the IT field?

4. Do you know informative links to apartment rentals, jobs and other information?

5. Do you think this is a good idea (hard question I know)?

Mahalo

I would think the best prospects for an IT job would be on Oahu.

What size company would best suit your training and experience? This might help narrow the choice of island down.

I worked for a very big company in Germany and now for a small company in Australia and I am fine with both. I think from the facts I have heard so far Oahu is the best island for this. What about the living costs? Are they different on the islands? Some of the other questions are also still unanswered and I would be happy if I could get some answers for them.
Thanks in advance
