Hello. Spoke to my mother this morning and she received a letter from Social Security Admin regarding medicare deductions. Letter stated they were no longer going to be deducting from her monthly to make these payments beginning next month. Her new amount is showing the same however. Trying to find any clarity on this.

What did they say when you called? And of course the first thing to determine, was the letter actually from SS?

You/she need to notify SS/Medicare immediately of this attempt to extort money from SS/Medicare beneficiaries.

Bob is right. This is a scam to get your mother to send money to these people. The only reason Medicare would not deduct premiums from her benefit is if her SS payment is lower than her Medicare Part B premium in which case Medicare would be billing her quarterly. Where is she supposed to be sending these payments?

What does that mean? Did you/she log in to the My Social Security account to verify if it shows these changes?

It sounds about as phony as anything I have ever heard. We would have been notified (all of us) a long time ago and it would be big news. Seniors have to do all they can to protect themselves and understand letters like that, are scams.
