Been retired from the State of CA for almost 3 years.
Will hit 65 in November and I am being bombarded with plans option via US Mail.

I believe Medicare will become my primary and my CALPERS insurance will become part B.
Is that correct?
Anything else I should be aware of?
TIA

My understanding is that your Calpers compares to Medigap G, not part B.

Part A is hospitals. Part B is doctors. You need to sign up for both. Some people add Medigap or Medicare Part G, which then covers the copays and charges above the Medicare limits.

What I have heard is that Calpers is like having Medicare G or Medigap (same thing).

Thanks, all! Lots of great info here. I turn 65 in December, so according to all the info above, I have a couple of months before CALPERS starts sending me info.

Or call a health insurance broker. You pay nothing; their salaries are paid by health insurance companies.

This is the last thing you want to do if you have insurance as part of your retirement plan. For example I receive 200/month from my employer provided that I only obtain my supplement from them. If I deviate even once I lose the benefit for life. It really pays to know your retiree benefits.
