What kind of rules apply when moving to a different state, regarding choosing Medigap plans in the new state?
Medigaps are portable and move with you no matter where you live, and can be used with any Medicare provider anywhere - unlike Advantage plans which are restricted to a specific location and provider network. Your Medigap insurer may adjust your premium based on the new location, but the coverage remains in place. Moving does not provide a guaranteed-issue right to a new Medigap unless for some reason the existing plan cannot insure you in your new location. This would be a rare occurrence.

IF you move to a state with a birthday rule or anniversary rule, you'd follow that schedule on when you can switch to something different based on that state's laws.
