Your car insurance gives you lower premiums for being a good driver - why cant health care be cheaper for those who take good care of their bodies?

Not sure how/if you can measure this but I think the idea has merit.

The problem is....who is to determine what is best for your body??? There are about as many theories on that as there are doctors..or even people !

Some health insurance plans already do this in some form. For instance, the health insurance plan I have waives the $250 deductible if you take 3 "healthy steps" each year such as getting a health screening, getting a flu shot, or participating in an exercise program.

Hmmm. Thats interesting. I did not know that some already do this.

It just bothers me because both my wife and I work out everyday, eat healthy, don't smoke, etc. ect. and yet we pay the same amount as <<fill in the blank here>> who eats McDonalds everday and smokes like a chimney. Doesnt seem fair.

Or they could just not have the crap cost so much for everyone...

I think its crappy they can charge you not to die.

People who live "healthy" can also have the tendancy to run to the doctor for everything. Is it fair to make everyone pay for that?

It would help me have healthier habits if I knew I could get a bit of a break for them. Maybe add extra tax on soda and french fries just like with cigarettes. I wouldn't be opposed to that.
