"Babies who are delivered through Caesarean section are twice as likely to become obese than those born traditionally, US research suggests.
Researchers from Boston Children's Hospital in Massachusetts found a doubling in the odds of obesity by the time the child was three years old."
Possibly because obese mothers are much more likely to have c-sections, and they usually feed their kids the way they feed themselves.
I know several women who delivered all their babies through C-section. All mothers were slim and all babies a healthy weight (who are now teenagers and slim).

I was speaking from personal experience, and that of friends and relatives, not from any kind of prejudice. Larger women are more likely to have c-sections. You're at higher risk for gestational diabetes and preeclampsia when you are obese and you are more likely to deliver by c-section if you have a complicated pregnancy. So when you are pregnant and obese, you are more likely to have a c-section.
When the mother is obese, the factors that contribute to her obesity are probably going to affect her children also, because she will feed them when she eats, feed them what she eats, and they're not likely to get any more exercise than she does, until they're school age. Most seriously overweight children have at least one overweight parent.
I'm thinking like Hedgehog_Mom....that there are other factors besides the c-section....I don't believe a c-section alone would put your baby at a higher risk for obesity....not at all
Yeah that may be correlation not causation. My mom had 2 c-sections because she had two miscarriages before having my sister and I and we were both preemies. (3 months and 1 month early) she was slim through child birth.
