I have a sebaceous cyst that hasn't been a problem until about a week ago, when it suddenly became sore and inflamed. Because I can't see a dermatologist for several weeks, I've been using a mixture of hot compress, tea tree oil, and neosporin on it. It has gone from a pea-shaped bump to a slightly smaller and squishier bump with a red circular area around it that makes it resemble a nipple. When I felt around the "areola" around the bump, it felt hard, almost like a coin or something under my skin. Is this scar tissue or is the cyst flattening and draining due to my treatments? And btw my doctor saw it and wasn't concerned about it being anything dangerous.
