When doing physicals on male minors (say a 12 year old), do they check for hernias like the do in adults (pressing on the testicles), or is that not a common practice because they're minors?

My family is in a feud over this question...

Well, I don't know whether they do (or did), but I suspect that they would. You CAN have a hernia w/o hitting puberty; in addition, some kids start hitting puberty around that age anyway.....

(I am assuming you mean prepubescent instead of minor)

I had one at that age and my doctor discovered it during a sports physical.

What's the feud about? Yes/no they will? Or yes/no they shouldn't?

Hello,
I guess it is quite normal because any person having hernia would go through from that medical checkup...
