Hi, I have moderate eczema on my hands. My doctor said she would write me a prescription but since she's not a dermatologist she wouldn't recommend anything specific. I had an ointment (.1%) that I used previously which worked okay but I thought it would be a good opportunity to try something new.
Does anyone have a really good medication they are using for moderate eczema?
I was told a few yrs ago I had it on my hands and heels. It was horrible. My skin was so dry and cracked that I "lost" the rough skin texture on my heels. I can slip on vinyl if not careful. It was hard to walk it hurt so bad. I have it still on the center of the palms on my hands. Every so often it starts to itch and I scratch it raw and it cracks and bleeds. I have Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream 0.1%. I don't use it anymore, but, I have to use Clobetasol Propionate Ointment USP 0.05% for my hands. Maybe every couple of months or so it acts up and I put it on my palms and sleep with my palms coated and covered with the "necks" of socks that I cut off. Usually in a couple of days it clears up. I don't remember the technical name of the type of eczema, but it is eczema. Haven't had any problems with my feet in years.
I have a bunch of tubes of different things and they sometimes work great immediately and sometimes not. I used to think it was the medicine itself but I've have eczema for my entire life and now I know it's part the medicine and part what my body decides to do. If a spot of rash doesn't want to go away it won't, even with 2x a day of whatever cream or ointment. Sometimes things clear up and I haven't even used anything.
My hands are probably the only place I've never had it though. Mine was always related to allergies.
