I had heard that hand sanitizers are not that good...meaning they don't work well, but at least it's something....

Always and I always use a towel to grab the door handle of public bathrooms. I have seen so many people use a public bathroom and don't wash their hands and then grab the door handle. Yikes!

I don't allow shoes in the house and it really gets to me when some people are too stupid to realize why. I can always tell a person is nasty if I see dirty carpet in their house. I've ended relationships on the no shoes in the house rule being broken! Nasty!

I am always amazed at how many people don't wash their hands after using the restroom. Absolutely disgusting!!! I'm totally grossed out when I see people do this at restaurants....gag

I use paper towels for this if it's a pull handle and if i can't reach the trash can with the door open, i leave the paper towel on the door or floor. No idea why a can can't be put next to the door. I don't want to touch a filthy door handle with clean hands!

That's not very considerate - who do you think is going to pick it up for you? Why can't you hold onto it until you get to a bin? I completely sympathise with not wanting to touch the door and I also use a paper towel, but I dispose of it properly!

Maybe once a day or so I don't but I'll do it in public or ESPECIALLY before meals and cooking.

if the owners are to stupid to put the bin by the door, that is their problem.....really, it should be outside the door.
Ours is right aside of the door, so you can hurl open the door and throw your towel right in bin, as it should be.

Always. I do so all day long besides, before preparing food, after eating, after picking up something off the floor or touching something I am conscious of or after coming in from outside. I also keep hand sanitizer my purse and car. Some might think it is too much, but I don't get sick like others do. I only ended up with something again after many years when I recently went to a focus group taste test... big mistake.. made me so mad.

When visiting someone and having touched bannisters outside that others have handled, I washed my hands before doing anything else. Living in an apartment, with an identical layout in the unit above mine, I have been aware of hearing many neighbors flush the toilet, only to hear them walk out past the vanity area, clearly skipping the sink. When I overhear someone sneezing / coughing in public, I keep my distance. I have also seen those who walk out of public restrooms past the sinks, and will be glad there are paper towels to grab the door with and bin near the door.

I agree that it is a big issue and some still don't it take seriously, contributing to the problem - then they take getting sick for granted and subject others to it. Drives me nuts.
