Looking for comments on having surgery for implanting a Artificial Urinary Sphincter. Good or Bad.

You might check out the Prostate Cancer group on the Healing Well forum. A number of folks there, after having their prostates removed via surgery, have opted to have a AUS installed.

My brother has cognitive/memory problems and wants this surgery for his incontinence. He lives in an Assisted Living apt. and would have access to help from nursing staff. I'm looking for people with experience with a patient who has had this surgery for an AMS 800 artificial urinary sphincter. Did the patient succeed in being able to operate this device after surgery? Thank you.
