I am just wondering if I am expecting a too quick turn around for results.

Had blood work done 6/18 and the results were back by the 21st. Have not gotten them in the Patient Portal where I can access them. I have called twice to the office and have been told the Dr. has yet to review them. I guess I don't remember waiting for long in the past.
Also, the longer it goes on I start to feel like something is wrong but then I should hear about that ASAP. I had them done just as a yearly appt. Nothing specific.

Shouldn't they be posted already?

They won't give them until the MD has reviewed them...doctors are busy folks so be patient.

You aren't the only one waiting for MD attention.

It usually takes about 5 business days for my doctor to post my results and give me feedback on routine blood work and thyroid panels. He usually send his messages at 10:30 or 11:00 pm so I feel like he is just really busy.

I tried to work with the Patient Portal and it just didn't work for me, not the most tech savvy person. I called the office and got a hard copy in a short time. To me, some of this tech makes things more stressful.

Here in the Philippines, I wait two hours for the blood test results, pick them up myself, and take the printout to my doctor. First I look and see if any of the readings are out of normal. The Americans have got a lot of catching up to do, but the medical-industrial complex seems to like it the way it is..

Yes, it sure does seem like a tangled web compared to your country.

Lab sends me an e-mail when results are posted on its Patient Portal. Usually in 2-3 days.

Dr.'s office gets its own copy. None of this "Oh, only the doc can give you the results" nonsense.

I wouldn’t be happy waiting that long either. Who drew your blood? If a doctor sends me as an outpatient to a hospital lab; I expect 3-4 hrs.

A contractor lab like QuestDiagnostics should be about 3-4 days. Now, if any of your values were at a ”critical” level; you would already know. All criticals are a mandatory “STAT notify MD”.

Also my results post about the same time they do for my doctor. I always have a critically low hemoglobin, so it’s a juggling act because my doctor will be trying to call me, while I’m trying to call him & the lab is trying to get through to me as well.
