Im 22 years old and have a small hardish ball in my lower back on the right and left side by the spine. They dont really just hurt when i touch them they just feel a little sore or like pressure is on it when i press down on them and try to massage them. They are mobile and will shift a biy when i massage them but they generally stay in the same place. I have had them for a little bit. Any sugesstions on what it may be? Is it cancerous possibly or something less harmful.

Are they the same size and in the same place on either side of your spine? If so, they may just be part of your anatomy.

If they're uneven or in different places, maybe cysts? My dad used to get cysts in his lower back near his spine, and sometimes the cysts had to be surgically removed, but they usually came back.

No one here can possibly diagnose this. We can't even see you. Sure, some might speculate, but that could just increase your anxiety about the unknown or suggest even more possibilities than you had before. Go to a doctor. They will have the tools to figure it out. They can use imaging, touch, biopsy, aspiration, or whatever to get to the bottom of it SOONER. The relief of knowing will be worth it. Could be any number of things....most of which are not horrible.

They are super common, but I forget what they are called.

You have got to go get this checked out by a doctor (not on the internet). It could be nothing much or it could be something much. Rheumatoid arthritis can cause nodules like you're describing, as can a host of other serious and not so serious conditions.

When I read your description, I know exactly what you're talking about. I'm 59 and have had those same things for ages. They don't really hurt, just a little sore and they do seem to wobble a bit when I press on them. They're in the same location as yours are.

I'm not a doctor nor have I ever played one on TV so I have no idea what they are or what to tell you to do. They don't bother me too much so I just live with them. If they bother you that much physically or psychologically, just see a doc.

Some years back, I had a small hard lump in the middle of my back. It turned out to be a cyst and was removed by a dermatologist in the office using just a local anesthetic. At least that's what he called it. No big deal for me but who knows?

Lipoma (Skin Lumps)

Google for more if you wish.
