There is a young woman at our church and her mother was talking to some of us women about her and said she is a size 2 and I have seen her spine through her clothes and im sure her mother told us she can see her rib bones now this woman is 27 yrs old not married no kids . She lives with her mother and her mother is worried about her . i cant see how you could possibly be healthy at a size 2 and this girl is 5"11 in height . I mean her bones are showing through her clothes and I understand her mothers concern and the pastors wife is speaking with mother and arranging counseling for the daughter . I just wonder how some young people get this way ? does anyone know ?

Disease, malnutrition, neglect, genetics...only a doctor will know why she is so skinny.

Mr_Geek is right.
It's pretty hard to say when we don't know anything about her or her life.

The girl may be anorexic. If that is the case then she will need counseling and possibly some sort of intervention.

Has she always been that thin, or is it something new?

I was a size 0 and then a 2 for decades, despite eating like a teen boy, so it does not necessarily mean something bad.

Sure does NOT sound healthy to me, I'd vote anorexic too. My first thought.

Maybe she’s anorexic or maybe not. Maybe it’s a symptom of something or maybe not. Why is this your concern?

I worked with a girl (age 32) who was 5'10" and 100 lbs. She was an expert extreme skier too. Despite the fact that her spine was visible through her clothes. I guess there are all sizes....not necessarily an indication of health.

some people are just very lean. i have a friend that's like that. my daughter is on the lean side and even though she's only 12 she'll probably be no bigger than a size 4 unless she allows herself to get overweight. my youngest daughter has always been solid, like a tree. she's just solid. I'm 5'10 and in the 145-150 range...and honestly I do start to appear gaunt in the 130s and 140s, while for others it's just fine and their build.
