So far, I have those other specialists I mentioned above to mk appts w/.) I don't have friends or relatives to talk to, so this to me is like "talking" amongst pals or colleagues because I don't have any really in my real life & they always say 2, 3+ heads are better than one. My mom who's quite health conscious & does research is still just 1 person, but the culmination of you guys could give me your experiences, ideas, suggestions, etc. & I was never looking for any diagnosis here...just input, like how good friends would when you tell them about health issues.

These days, I have quite a lot of dizziness from pretty much morning to night. Any worse of an intensity & it will almost start to become debilitating, so I've got that neurology referral too. For decades, my mom would get this dizzy-type feeling too off & on. No Drs ever figured out what it was, but she never went as far as seeing a neurologist. She still gets that feeling now & she turned 80 two wks ago & is otherwise, fine, spry, still walks & drives, etc. The only thing that's helped her is this anxiety med called Lorazepam.

Now, I'll answer your questions...

thyroid - never knew of any issues there, but I'll bring it up to a dr soon, thanks.

cholesterol - the LDL category, which they bolded on my bloodwork paperwork says 117, which the paperwork says is HIGH. My total incl. triglycerides, HDL, VLDL, & LDL is 166.
I tk omega-3 to help w/ that.

I tried to find a holistic, healer at one point. This Chinese dr who knows about all the herbs, etc. was sky high just for a consultation. I don't have that kind of money!

complete blood panel - I don't know how complete it is compared to a regular blood test, but the results takes 3 (typed) pages.

mammograms - Never had 1, I got a referral to schedule my 1st one soon here.

cysts - I assumed they were so far. They're liquid-filled & sometimes ooze blood & regular-looking bodily fluid. It doesn't look abnormal like any green colors or smell bad, etc.

sugar - I try my best to stay away from it. I don't eat actual desserts/sweets hardly ever. Carbs, I know are sugars too & again, I try my best to stay away from breads, etc.

dairy - Just the occasional cheese or yogurt at times. That's about it there. (I know certain sauces may have dairy in them, which could be hard to figure out if dining at a restaurant or something.)

YES, I try to get out & do my morning walking when I can. I do love the outsid fresh air & unlike some who may be allergic to grass, etc., MY breathing is overall great outdoors, especially when near the ocean.

ANOTHER QUESTION TO ANYONE:

Does anyone think that acupuncture will help w/ anything once I get more to the bottom of all this?
Thank you for the update! Its rare someone actually takes the time to report back. it sounds like you have got it covered with your upcoming doctors and tests.
Acupuncture works for some and not others. It did not help me with my neuropathy pain. My friend is seeing one for fertility treatments and she seems pleased with the direction its going. Its not a bad idea to try acupuncture but I would wait until you get an actual diagnosis for your problems. Also they are expensive. Some insurance will cover them so you will have to look into that.

OP

I have no answers for you but will say this about your age. When I was 40-something an acquaintance-not-quite-friend who was 7 years older than me said "wait until you hit 45 or 46, things start going sideways". I didn't remember this until later (when things went sideways for me) and looking back I was 46 when things started and up until then was relatively healthy and vegetarian healthy eater (not all vegetarians eat healthy).

Yes I had allergies but after age 46 things started piling up like crazy. Not the same as your list but holy cow. I am female.

Maybe it's hormonal. I suspect they regulate quite a lot of things and yes peri-menopause started but the other things were worse than any menopause. I heard other women complain about hot flashes and thought "you whiner".

Keep trying to figure out your health. My experience has been that no doctor has all the answers and you'd best do your own detective work.

OP back.

On 8/28 & a little earlier today, I had either some kind of asthma attack or panic attack or I don't know what the heck it was, but they both came on VERY abruptly & they were VERY scary, but they most closely resembled the symptoms of a panic attack. I was just sitting as calmly as I'll ever be both times when they started. Today's was not nearly as severe as on 8/28. Never had any anxiety, panic, stress issues ever before either.

I saw my general dr after the "attack" on 8/28 & she didn't think it was an asthma attack, but she couldn't say what it was.

Well, all I can do is my best to figure out things. I'm continuously doing health research on something it seems, so I'll continue on!

Replies to the last posters:

jaminhealth, a thank you shout-out to you for PMing me your wisdom!

Luckyd609, sure thing! I'm usually pretty thorough & organized w/ the way I do things...even on a discussion board, ha!

twinkletwinkle22, thanks. Yes, I've recently heard once or twice that once you hit your 40s, something happens. How long will it take these odd occurrences to pass?

I would stop most of the vitamins, why are you taking them in the first place.....a doctor is recommending them???? Do you eat a good, well-rounded diet. Taking vitamins can cause problems....problems that slowly come about, often undetected.

I would check for the easiest things first, a CBC blood-test comes to mind as an easy way to see any glaring problems right up front.

Not a doctor, not medical advice, just what I would do.

tickyul, I've stopped taking most of the vitamins for the last few mos now. The one who advised me to take them is my very health-conscious mother who turned 80 a few weeks ago, is spry, eats very well, still drives, still lives in her 2-story house, still goes walking a 4-6 times a week, still works here & there when she feels like it, & does all kinds of health research. She's been taking vitamins for most of her life, so she must be doing something right!

My diet & exercise regime could be better, but I try.

What does CBC stand for?

CBC stands for complete-blood-count..........usually one of the first things a doctor will check when you are having weird medical problems.

The vitamins your Mother is taking, may have nothing to do with her being healthy, could be a coincidence.

How many different supplements are you taking....is each and every one for a very specific reason, prescribed/recommended by a doctor?

Hi - I come down on the side of thyroid problems. Make sure your complete blood test covered these tests. Both hypo and hyper thyroid can cause weakness and dizziness. Don't know about the cysts, etc., I would think that's an unrelated problem. Jaminhealth and I are on opposite ends of the thyroid spectrum, but I agree with her that it is a sneaky disease and can exhibit a lot of strange symptoms.

This is faulty logic.

It's impossible to isolate the vitamin use from all the other factors (including genetics) affecting your mother's life.

A lot of people who take them have the "Won't hurt, might help" philosophy and those people make vitamin manufacturers wealthy.

I agree with your mom as I'm 80 and know the supplements have helped keep me healthy overall. And even though my 92 yr old friend has a lot of issues, she's lived long, and didn't really start a lot of supplements until in her 70's or, she is healthy and lust to keep living. No assisted living in her life. She lives alone and deals with her issues which include OA and a mess from 2 hip replacements.

To me they are supplements, they supplement what we are missing as we age.

To totally count on our foods that are so depleted is pretty foolhearty as I see it unless one does their own organic garden and grow their own grass fed meats.

And I believe those who don't supplement keep the pharma world healthy.

My way is more supplements and less drugs.

OP: I didn't start supplementing until in my 50's and pretty much after menopause and I don't think you are my age, much younger. Why not just settle on a few pretty important supps and go from there. Maybe a high quality Multi, I took a multi for many years and don't know but its a good start.

Yes, when I said I don't take the whole list of vitamins I used to, the dr said which ones to ONLY take from now on:

- good multi which is what I've always taken
- omega-3, which is what I've always taken
- vitamin D, which is what I've always taken & she said I was deficient on it

Here's the 3 more that my mom said to take at the least:

- selenium
- probiotic
- vitamin C

Oh & my mom ordered me some organic beet powder to mix in w/ beverages.

Then, I've recently started taking a higher dosage of grape seed extract, which jaminhealth strongly recommended for my respiratory, asthma-like issue.

So that's 7 vitamins, which is a far cry from in the past taking 12-15/day. Also, every time I have a smoothie, which is about every couple or so weeks, I mix in these goodies:

- collagen peptides

- liquid turmeric - I think this just might help w/ my dizziness

- organic bone broth powder. Look here to see what it is & does: https://store.draxe.com/products/bon...h-protein-pure

- this stuff call BenVia Gold. Look here to see what it is & does: https://www.besthealthnutritionals.c...gold-seed.html

(Then, occasionally, I do like taking: Iron, magnesium, cranberry)

Thank you! I toally agree w/ all you said, especially the parts I bolded!

Foods today are so processed, meats stuffed with hormones, etc. that everyone should take a little extra something. Foods aren't even food anymore to get nutrition from. As much as I can, I get organic, non-GMO, zero trans fat, no soy, etc., etc. & as much other good stuff as possible.

Plus, I recently started drinking alkaline water of an 8pH level or higher. Spring water is good too. My whole life was just regular bottled water (& the last 5 yrs was this filtered water from a filter that attached to my faucet).
