Five days ago, I went home from work and collapsed on the couch. And I mean, I was out. No energy, no appetite, my body just went into complete shutdown mode. No fever, no aches, just exhaustion. It felt like when I had mono in college, but I'm 60 and that's not supposed to be a possibility at my age. I struggled to eat about 4 bites of soup a day. I pretty much laid there 24/7 until this afternoon.
Today I was able to go to work a few hours, but now I'm really weak from not eating enough and I feel dehydrated. I just want to feel okay again. Just not hungry, just like when I had mono. I slept for 6 weeks back then.
I'm sure this is caused by stress and overwork. Been working 7 days a week in our business for two months plus business trips plus a variety of other major stresses - death in family, family moving in with us, crazy violent neighbor, two small claims cases, granddaughter in and out of psych facility, plus more. I've stayed positive through all of this, continued my role as encourager and fixer and I have a strong support group of family and friends. And typically I sleep very well, 8 hours a night. I don't have any health issues and I'm not on any meds. Yep, I thought I was invincible.
Anyone else ever go through something like this? Any suggestions on getting my strength back?
Anyone else ever go through something like this?
not exactly.
2018, 2 parents' deaths.
brother-in-law is the psycho.
2 crazy neighbors, but not violent, yet.
family moved in, but back out now.
Any suggestions on getting my strength back?
well, what was your strength to begin with?
my opinion: eat more RED meat than usual.
eat Much Less bread. you know, carbs.
this works for me, but it takes 3 days.

Oh gosh sorry to hear that. Be careful. We bought security cameras and use the Zmodo app.
I walk 10-12,000 steps a day and carry 30 pound boxes and grandkids. I hike in the mountains and swim laps. Today I was weak standing up, but tonight I feel a bit better. I had a little bacon this morning and I'm trying to finish an egg. I never eat bread. I'll try to get red meat in tomorrow. Thank you.
Yeah working 7 days per week at 60 must be really tough.
I was just reflecting on this last night. In 2017 I was working maybe 3-4 days worth, spread over 6 days. Starting in early 2018 I've been putting in more and more hours. I own a tech company and there is always work to be done.
I am not 60. I am a little more than half that. What keeps me on track is going to the gym for a 30 min. workout every day. I don't get more than 3 exercises in + stretching, but it really works well.
Business owners always get paid last. Sad reality I guess... but that means we have to be more proactive in scheduling body health-related activities in our lives.
Extreme fatigue, lightheadedness and nausea are some of the lesser known signs of heart attack or impending heart attack in women. Stress is a known trigger of heart attacks.
Unfortunately, fatigue seems to be the universal symptom for just about everything. Much better today, almost back to normal except still no appetite.
I had a relapse of mono once before when I was in my 30's for 2 days. It felt exactly like that. And there's no treatment, just rest, fluids, vitamins. The Epstein Barr virus stays in your system. From what I've read, it can lead to Chronic Fatigue.

I think your body is just run down from too much and you need a good long rest.

So true. Those hoofbeats you hear are probably horses-- you're just worn out from over-work & stress...
..but they could be from Zebras-- silent MI as mention above, Adrenal Insufficiency, any condition causing elevated Calcium, etc etc
