I worked in a chemical plant and I also worked on a freight dock altogether for over 20 years. I have also worked with biohazards. About three months ago I had to go and complete a testing for fitting a respirator. After the test I was given a long questionnaire and they asked me if I have ever been exposed to about two dozen chemicals. I answered yes to ever one and added some.
My wife and I both smoked for about thirty years and we both gave up twenty years ago. She did not smoke as much as I did. She died last year from lung cancer. I have not had any problems so far. My feeling is that these issues have a lot to do with individual tolerances and how much and how long you were exposed. In other words; I am not sure if any of us here on the forum can be of help. Have you had any issues that could have come from the PVCs? Do you tell your doctor/s that you had been exposed for thirty years? Read as much as you can and ask your physicians the right questions next time you see them. And; good luck!
