Anyone bought an air purifier recently? (allergies, symptoms, expensive, reviews)

I was wondering, has anyone bought an air purifier recently?

I recently bought the Honeywell AirGenius 5 since Kohl's had a really good deal on it and I discovered my AirGenius 4 Compact was undersized for my bedroom. I understand that air purifiers aren't guaranteed to filter out COVID-19 from the air (Honeywell even made a disclaimer even on their true HEPA models with the disposable filters), but I still want to keep my room air clean.

I have had to buy an air purifier recently because of the air quality getting worse in my city. I bought a Levoit Air purifier and it has been good so far. WE had a Reme-HALO https://www.rgf.com/products/air/reme-halo/#undefined installed for whole house air purification. Had shroud opened all the way when COVID hit!

I bought an Austin Air for my living room and Winix for the bedroom. The Austin Air works really well. The replacement filter is more than $300, but it lasts 5 years.

The Winix has an air quality sensor and my kids have been having a farting contest to see whose fart makes the air quality worst. I may have to move it out of the bedroom if the contest continues much longer.

A 20 x 20 box-fan can hold a 20 x 20 HEPA-filter quite well.....and it does a very good job of
cleaning the air.

I have a Honeywell and have used it for several years at night. I have to remember to clean the filters but it does help my allergies at night.

Yes- I brought 2 very nice and affordable HEPA filters. They work very nicely.
There is no scientific evidence that they will filter out COVID viral particles, but they are recommended for uses in medical offices by the CDC because of their potential for filtering. Mine work really well. I can tell the air is fresher, so I feel more comfortable having one. Although, I live alone so it won't help much, but should anyone need to come into my apartment, I feel better having them.

Nope. Was thinking seriously about buying one just as the Covid was rolling out but after researching the options and models it turns that most of them do more harm then good.

The concept of "pure air" is relative. Nothing works better then airing the house at night when the air is cleaner.

Apparently most of the technologies either introduce some chemicals or particles into the air
or have UV light built in that causes molecular change in the air particles that in turn can bring the same symptoms as Covid.

Good old HEPA filters or at least some of them apparently have a fiberglass in them that gets into the air and it can cause all kinds of lung problems as well.

Charcoal ones, also host of issues. Once I googled them I decided I don't want that either.

So at the end of the day, chances are any and all of the air purifiers are not just taking away stuff from the air but also are adding something and one can never be sure what is it and how one will react to it long term.

I got an air quality monitor instead and monitor the particle and CO2 levels inside and outside
and when there are ideal conditions outside I simply use window fan to remove all dirty air out and bring all clean air in. Works like a charm and the numbers show it instantly.

Any of those or any others at any other retailers will do the trick. They are not that expensive but let you know exactly what are you breathing. Any room in the house or car or outside.

I got a gizmo on Amazon and I just wish I did it much earlier. It really helps to keep the air healthy and no air purifier can get the numbers anywhere near to what this easy solution does.
