Did you injure it and have you had a doctor examine it?

Sure, many times for all sorts of reasons: sprains, cuts, bruises, dislocation, overuse and sore muscles/tendonitis caused by practicing for guitar recitals or too much keyboard work for too many hours. These days one or the other tends to hurt because of osteoarthritis. The most memorable was probably when my sister slammed a car door on the left one in 5th grade.

OP your post was very very vague. No one's going to be able to help much without more information. Heat and massage can help relax tight muscles. Try wrapping your hand in a moist towel warmed up in the microwave or a heating pad set on low. Tendon inflammation can be relieved by proper stretching before use, stretching and cold packs after use.

See a hand specialist.

I have an appointment with my Doctor this week via phone. I don't think it is a trigger finger. Just the position I had it in just triggered pain, severe pain. I know I did not give much info. Just was asking. It was severe but not so now except for shooting pains now and then. I figured I should see a hand doctor, but checking with my Primary first.
