It's early, but interesting, research. It doesn't work the same way as a traditional vaccine. Instead it just ramps up the body's immune response for a short period... probably something like hours, not weeks. Could be a useful preventative for things like air travel, gathering in family groups for special occasions, etc. Also probably useful for a number of infections, not just COVID. And it would be cheap to produce, easy to distribute (no special refrigeration, etc.) Time will tell. Still early in the testing phase. Promising though.
It's not about where the virus enters (nose, mouth, eyes, etc.), but how the body responds to the virus. The "nasal" aspect of nasal spray is only about how it is most efficiently administered.
"The day after administering a second dose of INNA-051 or placebo, the team exposed the ferrets to the virus that causes Covid-19, and the animals were monitored for 12 days via nasal and throat samples.
Five days after the ferrets were exposed to the coronavirus, the quantity of viral RNA – the genetic material of the virus – recovered from throat swabs was reduced by 96% among those given INNA-051 compared with those given the placebo."
Doesn't stop transmission through the eyes, mouth, and ears.
It may be less effective outside the upper respiratory tract, just as intramuscular vaccines like the one we hope is available soon may be less effective IN the upper respiratory tract, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will be ineffective.
Ive wondered about the lack of transparency about many things like Mir2911, Quercetin, H2O2, and Ivermectin.
