Anyone familiar with the Cleveland Clinic?

Sister has multiple symptoms....ear infections (which never seem to go away), back/neck/shoulder pain. Heart Pounding. High blood pressure. Local doc's have evaluated each piece and say there is nothing wrong. She is healthy and fit otherwise.

I am wondering if going to a place like the Cleveland Clinic might be a good idea. Perhaps they can do an in-depth evaluation of her symptoms and tie the whole thing together, or at least figure out what is going on with each piece. She is at wits end and really wants to get healthy again.

Appreciate any experiences which people have had in dealing the Clinic.

It sounds like self-induced stress. If she had high blood pressure, it would've shown up on the monitor. If she's really worried about it, go buy a blood pressure monitor and keep track several times a day.

I've not dealt with the Cleveland Clinic, but have been to the Mayo Clinic twice for diagnostic purposes. Anyone can go--check your sister's insurance and Mayo's insurance so she doesn't get screwed-- it just may take 3 months to get an appointment.

We started with a doctor in the specialty we suspected the problem was. We had to send in a ton of records--past doctor's visits, any labs that had been done, medication history, etc. After we had an initial meeting with the doctor, we were scheduled for a bunch of lab & doctor appointments-blood, urine, xray, mri--to help them determine what was going on, all on the Mayo campus. We then met again to discuss results and treatment. We weren't treated at Mayo, but left with instructions for our doctor at home and referrals to area doctors with that specialty. We were there for two days. I can't say enough good things about both experiences. They had a blood test to diagnose for rheumatoid arthritis that our local docs hadn't even heard of, and we live in a major metro area.

Good luck to you and your sister. Not knowing what's going on is scary.
