Used be my drink, then my nose got stuffed up!!
I probably could get away with a double neat.
But that's like having one beer and leaving the place.
I'm gonna have a red dry wine with a steak; I don't care about any study!!
Italians and their wines ...they live a long time.

At some point, you have to opt for quality of life.

I refuse to give up the few pleasures I enjoy, moderately.

I have my blood tested a few times a year, so keep track of how my organs are doing (at least, heart - doc does EKG - liver, and kidneys).

I refuse to be a teetotaler at this stage in my life.

In a worst-case scenario, California has an euthanasia option for ending suffering.

I'll drink to that! Scotch is THE best hard liquor IMHO.

Bourbon too sometimes but wine is fine MOST days!

Very very true & more so re Italians & vino. I see it as this; Italians are mostly fun loving ppl (as in party types/social gatherings w/ good Paisanos, etc), this & drinking good vino daily MAY WELL BE the REASON they have longevity especially near Sardinia too.

Never smoked [Well, except for some grapevine when I was a kid...]
Never drank
I have excellent genetics.

I do like my sweets and chocolate though.

Oh, and I never played football or any other contact sport. SO not really any brain trauma.
My dad played football in HS, have wondered if it contributed to his Lewy Body dementia.

Well, guess it depends on the size of the glass. I prefer a 24 oz. tumbler.

Hearing these different anecdotes leads me to believe that there's a genetic component to it, because some people seem to be more resistant than others to the onset of alcohol-related illness. Or maybe it's a matter of diet, activity level, or a combination of those factors. The right combination could also be a personal matter. Still, there's no getting around the fact that there are no health risks associated with not drinking.
