DH has visited a chiro recently who was able to help him while he waited to have an MRI and consult with neuro. Also, in the meantime, regular doc also sent him for physical therapy.

When you can’t get in to see a doc, you can often get in to see a chiro. I think the adjustments can help to an extent.

Buying a package sounds like overkill to me. I think OP’s husband should have found another chiro, frankly.

Ask yourself this, OP:

If he goes to the Chiropractor and is 100% better in the first 10 visits, will the doctor give him the balance of unused visits back in a refund?

If not, why not? Doctors are supposed to treat illness, diagnose illness, and help patients maintain health. If the patient is healthy, then he no longer needs treatment. He only needs maintenance.

If he paid for 24 visits, then those 24 visits shouldn't have an expiration date. If he's better after the first 10, then the doctor owes him 14 more visits - if/when needed. Or a refund for the 14 unused visits.

Her had her on this very expensive supplement regime that were probably no better than what you would get at sprouts or whole foods. And then after I found her one of the best back specialists in the country who with minor surgery would fix her pain issues. The chiropractor convinced her at the last minute not to do the surgery. Of course if it worked he would lose a customer.

I'm curious why Medicare wouldn't pay for her visits. Medicare pays for mine. Maybe the chiro she picked doesn't accept Medicare.

As far as surgery. What type of surgery? I had my spine fused conservatively the first time with no rods and screws. It failed. Rods and screws added in 2006, I'm in worst shape. Surgery is not the cure all answer. I have a friend in the same boat with fusion. I'm not sure what type she had. She was good for about 18 months but year two she walks worst than me.

I tried to tell her that surgery may not help, she could end up like me but she felt like she had no choice.

Her days of riding her Harley are over just like me. She's looking at a Harley trike hoping that will allow her to stay in the wind.

I agree, OP's husband may not need to be seen three times a week. I would never prepay, especially that high of an amount.

I assume the chiro would give a credit, doubt they'd refund the money. Possible they're barely surviving since COVID.

Well, my doctor recommended a chiropractor to me and when he first started seeing me I think it was twice a week. I wish I could remember clearly. Then after a short time it was once a week, then once every two weeks, then once a month and after this next month is will be as needed. I had a minor problem with my spine and minor back pain however. For me it actually helped a real good deal. That and physical therapy helped the most. I think however it is important to find a reputable chiropractor; and, it may for whatever reason not help everyone.

He taught me a bunch of stretches and material... That was it .. Never went back and the stretches worked!Q
His boat must have been paid off...

A condo neighbor of mine years ago was a ne'er do well, not too intelligent, scumbag, rude guy. I was a condo owner. He and his wife were renters. He didn't know what to do with his life. So he became a Chiropractor and started calling himself a doctor.

No way I'd let that bozo snap my spine.

I went to a chiropractor once, on my own (not ins.), because I had lumbar spine pain and it felt like my lower spine in that area was locked or something. I gave a chiropractor a try. He contorted my body on the table, then pushed hard and fast, snapping something in the spine, incl. the neck. I was surprised by the move and that it was so violent! I thought he could've broken my spine or neck with that move he did. But as soon as he "snapped" me, it felt like a big gush of air or blood just moved down thru my spine. The pain and the "lock" were gone. I would never have believed it.

I then toured the facility (he'd recommended I go for rehab). I saw a bunch of guys in there "working out" on machines. They'd all been going there for months, and none of them were getting "cured." Insurance was paying for it. I ran, not walked, out of there. Insurance scam.

So that was my confusing experience. I would never let a chiropractor snap my spine & neck like that again...dangerous. OTOH, it worked. Then I saw what I was sure was an ins. scam. And there was my neighbor, a total dufus who should never be allowed to snap anything on anybody.

Me...I wouldn't pay for a package. I'm a pay-as-you-go kinda person. Packages are usually for the benefit of the business, not the customer. So many things can happen. What if that location closes? What if the business gets rid of your hubby's favorite machine and he's left with ineffectual machines, but he's stuck with that package? Pay as you go is the way to go.

Call your insurance company and tell them what happened.
Get a refund from this quack, and run like hell.
Back in the day, I had the same thing happen to me.
These fraudsters are what give the profession a bad rep.
Good luck.

Chiros love to use the word Doctor. But they don't go to medical school, so they aren't a doctor. They're more like a physical therapist with a big ego.

It's a scam.

He should be seeing an orthopedist.

Read this:

Unfortunately, you should have asked before he paid. I seriously doubt that the quackopractor will give him a refund.

I have gone to a fair share of chiropractors over the years, only one was an obvious scam. I moved to a new area and based on the reviews I went to a the biggest chiropractic practice in town. They did x-rays and then lectured me about all kinds of stuff wrong with me and that they could fix everything as long as I saw them a few times a week. On my 3rd visit they did a very scary neck adjustment and at that point I was out. I cancelled whatever appointments I had and never went back and warned others of the place.
I have since gone to 2 different chiropractors in town and they were great. No hard sell at all. One even said I dont need to come back since I was feeling better! He retired.
These days I am more skeptical of the effects of chiropractors, I haven't seen one in years.
