A little while ago my left hand lost it dexterity while typing, it felt kind of weak. It felt exactly like it's really cold and your hands just can't move as well as vs warmed up hands. But I was indoors and cold wasn't a factor. (Typing got better and it went away after 15 ,20 min)

2,3 days ago the same left hand I felt tingling sensation out of nowhere, I think it's the same tingling I felt in my left leg 4,5 years ago but not very sure since it's been so long. (More below)

2,3 days before that tingling the left hand was shaking/trembling by itself out of nowhere, it was shaking like old people's hands. after 10 min I think it went away.

Right hand is totally fine, never had any of those problems. (46M, 5'9, 190 lbs)

(More info: 4,5 yeas ago my left leg also had tingling sensation out of nowhere, later it would do something else more serious but I forgot what exactly since it's been so long, but then I started walking around more (was very inactive and always sitting down) and it totally went away, but my walking posture might be off because after awhile my right sock would go off to the side like I kept pushing it to the right.)

What's going on is it anything serious? If I need to go see a doctor what kind of doctor should I go see? Can I wait until it happens again then go see a doctor? thanks for your help.

Typically one sees their PCP, who may do a few basic tests. Then s/he will refer you to the appropriate specialist. At least that's how it works at our clinic.

See your regular doc, or if you don’t have one, see an internist first. He/she will refer you on if necessary.

Thanks guys.

Do those symptoms sound serious? Should I go see a doctor right away?

The hand symptoms sound like carpal tunnel syndrome but since you also had symptoms in your thigh the question arises -- 'are the symptoms related?'.

Possibly the hand symptoms are totally unrelated to the thigh symptoms.

If they ARE related that raises concern for neuralgic conditions like multiple sclerosis.

Go see your PCP.

I cannot say, but if I were you I'd make an appointment soon, just to get the matter resolved and the worry off your mind.

Yes. For your peace of mind. Who knows if they are serious? But they are new, correct?

Yeah they are all new, never had those before.

Some newbie questions, I have never used my health insurance before, do they provide a PCP or do I just pick a place and keep going back instead of changing doctors so the Dr will be my PCP, and knows my history etc. so it's better that way.

Yeah I have always been healthy, never went to the doctor other than dentist, last cold was 5 years ago, rarely took even advil, I think last 10 years I took 12 tablets. I don't even know what yearly free exams etc that my health insurance provides, I should look into those.

Do I need to ask the clinic/hospital if they take my health insurance before going there ? They don't take any health insurance providers right?

One way to start looking for a new PCP is to check your insurance provider's information. Mine provides an annually updated directory of in-network providers for my area. If you find PCPs listed (they might be listed under a heading such as "family" medicine, general practitioner, internal medicine, etc), you can then check further for patient reviews of their services.

Sounds like now's as good a time as any to get familiar with your insurance coverage and procedures...before you really need them. A PCP can be a very useful thing. Even if you're healthy now its a good idea to get some baseline history and a relationship established. They might not seem necessary now, but they can save you a lot of aggravation in future, especially if time is of the essence. PCPs provide an entry portal for specialist referrals...you'll want that in case you need it on short notice. Depending on your insurance coverage you can't always just call or walk into some specialist's office without one.

I am a MD (Internal Medicine and Preventive Medicine) and would recommend you see a Neurologist based on yew hat you’ve written. Scheduling at an academic institution, if you live near one, is probably the best (even though they can sometimes be a pain to navigate at first), because if you need to see a sub specialist Neurologist (i.e. Movement Disorders, Neuromuscular Medicine, etc), you’ll be in the system and you’ll have access to sub specialists.
