So, I did a gastric emptying study and they discovered that I might have Gastroparesis. Can someone explain what it is? I did a google search and it says it's a condition that affects the stomach muscles and prevents proper stomach emptying. Gastroparesis can affect digestion. The cause might be damage to a nerve that controls stomach muscles. Symptoms include nausea and a full feeling after little food is eaten.

I'd like to know more about Gastroparesis. Thanks!

You wrote that you may have this condition. Are you waiting for test results or a followup consultation? Your gastroenterologist will explain it if in fact you do have to deal with it. I completely understand wanting to research it for yourself, but sometimes too much searching can create more anxiety and worry. Can't be good for digestion. I'd do enough research to develop a good list of questions to take to your next appointment. When I go online to investigate health conditions I avoid the dotcoms. Often they're trying to sell you something or touting personal opinions instead of fact. A place to start:

It means your stomach is contracting too slowly. The stomach is supposed to contract frequently enough to push the food further along in the GI system. I was mistakenly diagnosed with this a million years ago because of my symptoms and my stomach not contracting during an endoscopy. I felt awful at the time and could not eat a plate of food without having severe pain and nausea.

There is medication to help the stomach contract, but I believe a strict "diet" is required, as well. Best of luck.
