So I'm having lower back pain when I get up and he's having hip pain when he gets up. This bed is about 8 years old and a pillow top. Spent $1500 back then. We are now thinking of switching to the SN 360 I8 smart bed. With the fully loaded base out the door it will be $8200. The mattress alone is $3800. Anyone have any experiences with these beds? We're going to the store tomorrow to see all the options but these particular bed has the most ratings at 4.8 at 43k. TIA

I'd just make sure the mold problems that some consumers encountered with prior models weren't an issue with this model, or that you make sure to do whatever maintenance is required to keep mold from growing. Before knowing about this, a friend and I both had Sleep Number beds that when disassembled had considerable black mold growing in them. I did like the support, though.

We've had our C-series sleep number for 6 years. Never a day's trouble with it. No mold, no nuthin. We gave back the "sleep IQ" device since it was a totally unnecessary gimmick. You really don't need all the bells and whistles. Get a queen size lower-end model with a nice topper and the frame at whatever size you prefer. I think we spent around $3500 for that, which came with 2 remotes, delivered, with setup and instructions demonstrated to us by the delivery people to make sure we knew how to break it down and set it up ourselves when we moved.

Took us around an hour to break it down and stuff it in the bag it came in when we move out of state. Took around 25 minutes to re-assemble it and get the air pumped into it correctly.

Hubby is a 75. I shift between a 55 and a 70 depending on my hip (I have arthritis and sometimes I need the firmer, higher number).

I slept in a hotel with a sleep number bed. I hated it. I couldn't find any setting that was comfortable.

I've never seen one of those beds in any other hotel, so I doubt it's common. But maybe there is one nearby you could try spending the night on before committing to such an expensive purchase.

I've had 2 adjustable beds that were similar but not Sleep Number.
I loved the first one (sadly, left it behind in a move and company no longer makes them), couldn't get comfy on the much-more-expensive 2nd one.
Hubster liked the 2nd one better.

I like a soft bed, husband likes it firm, so it's nice to adjust.

Ended up purchasing a P6 with the top of the line base. We bought a mattress pad and sheets as we got the half split king. So all the sheets I just bought are useless now lol. Price was 9k OTD with delivery and removal of old mattress/base. Get it 9/3.

YEOUCH! I hope you negotiated. You can, with them. Not by much but they will sometimes toss in a free pillow for large purchases.

Meanwhile, make sure to join the Sleep Number InnerCircle ( https://www.sleepnumber.com/inner-circle/login ). You get bonuses, entries to win product, and a free gift and extra discount for your birthday every year. If you participate in their reviews and surveys and watching short sales videos you can earn around $200 in store credit (that's a new set of sheets or a pair of pillows, right there), and a couple freebies.

One of the BEST things about the SleepNumber is the combination ease-of-assembly and overall weight. Putting sheets on the bed and tucking everything in is SO easy when you only have to lift the edge of a 10-pound mattress.
