My wife's job (Head Start) still freaks out about Covid. Do the feds still hand out free tests to anyone who wants them? Last year the drug stores all gave away their stock because the tests were expiring any nobody wanted them. All of ours at home are also expired but a new "outbreak" of 4 cases just occurred, which has caused a mini-panic and a desire for my wife to test herself!

Yes, I actually just ordered some via USPS about 2 weeks ago because I was completely out after using several in advance of going on vacation and then again after returning.

Only took about 7 days. Interestingly, the expiration date on them is end of May, so I suspect they have been sitting around in their inventory for a while.

No, you can't get them free from the Fed. gov. - Check with your health insurance carrier, depending on location libraries, etc. MIGHT still have free tests available.

I wonder if this is location dependent, because like I mention above, I ordered them very recently this using the same USPS website as before, they were free, and they arrived within a week.

I was a bit surprised, because I had assumed they had ended it as mentioned above.

The dates keep getting extended as testing continues as time since development increases

I bought one at Rite-Aid for $9.99 plus tax, that expires in September. I think I can get reimbursed by my insurance for that.

Also ordered free ones from USPS (last time we got 4 of them).
