I am trying to figure out what the problem is. We live in Florida so of course it's going to be hot outside. Lately, I seem to be hotter than usual, sweating more, and just can't get cool enough. The exception is at night, when I usually have to turn the AC temp up because I am watching TV with my feet freezing.

One thing is when the kids are up and around, of course I am moving around more, but once the sun starts to go down, it's almost like a switch. I'm not sure if it's anxiety that is more abundant when I am dealing with the kids, or if it might be a health issue. I don't seem to have a fever either.

I don't have insurance and I don't qualify for Medicaid, so I can't just go to the doctor and get a whole load of tests.

Any input would be appreciated.

You didn't mention your age but if you are a woman these could be hot flashes. I am at the age and I wouldn't call them flashes exactly because I'm almost always hot all the time these days.

I am 34. Hot flashes would make sense, but when the kids are in bed and the sun is down, I don't really get hot. Irritability has been kind of a factor as well which is what led me to think of Anxiety.

I've noticed that exposure to pesticides over a period of time make people more sensitive to hot weather.

If you live in Florida there is a 100% chance you are exposed to pesticides.

I would have hated to start having menopause symptoms when I was 34 but some women do go through it early. If you really suspect anxiety and it is mostly present when you are around your kids you should speak with a doctor. If you can't afford one (who can these days??) you should check out a free clinic.

You really need to see a doctor to make sure - it could be perimenopause, thyroid issues, etc. - many things can cause that symptom.

I know, and for this I can go to the Women's Center. I'm just a little worried because I am so young.

When you mentioned the feeling hot but with cold feet...makes me think of my year and a half before I found out that I was hyperthyroid.
You really should get to the women's center and see if they can do a blood draw for your TSH level (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone)

Thyroid-Stimulating Hormone (TSH): TSH Levels Test

good luck!

I went to the doctor about 6 months ago when I did have insurance and they did check my thyroid as well as my hormone levels. I guess something could have changed since then...
