From the Wikipedia article on Roman Citizenship:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_citizenship

If accused of treason, a Roman citizen had the right to be tried in Rome, and even if sentenced to death, no Roman citizen could be sentenced to die on the cross.

Unless Christian belief has radically changed or this is not accurate, this pretty much settles the matter. Jesus was NOT a Roman citizen.

Since Jesus was born in Bethelem, a territory of the Roman Empire at the time, does that make him a citizen of the Roman Empire? Or does Jesus' ethnicity preclude him from that status?
He was a "Dreamer"
