I'm familiar with Medieval and American history before the Civil War, the most out of all of these, and not by that much. I'd be very interested to learn about this though.
Prehistory to Medieval in my geographic area of interest which had no 'Ancient/Classical' period in the proper sense :-) In fact, much of the area was prehistoric for about half of the medieval!
The Renaissance and Age of Exploration without question. That's when the entire world changed. Everything. Science. Politics. Literacy. Society. Faith. You name it.
To be sure, the world is changing today faster than ever, but that's a deceptive argument. For change is now an accepted part of the world, whereas it wasn't before. The Renaissance set it into motion.
Ancient History - roughly 3000 BC to 500 AD
Modern History - 1780-2000
Medieval History - 500 AD to 1500 AD
Age of Exploration/Renaissance - 1500 - 1780 AD
Pre-Ancient/Pre-Historic History - Before 3000 BC
