Where is the match ?? A simple chemical reaction that lets you have portable FIRE IMO should be in the top ten along with safety pins .

Also , indoor ovens and clothes washers , we would be banging dirty laundry on a rock by the river and cooking on a hearth .

Sewers are the most underrated sanitation systems without which we would have multiple plagues .

Hot water heaters should be in the top ten too , w/o a hot shower or bath , truly the world would be UNCIVILIZED !

Definitely the alphabet and this \/ \/
