There are worse consequences ignoring the sovereignty of people and their liberties by brute force and tyranny. If you can't question the government you are living under and their corruption, abuses and tyranny in history then what's the point in this discussion?

By the way, Chief Justice Roger B Taney believed that the Southern states had the constitutional right to secede and he blamed Lincoln for starting the war. He ruled that Lincolns actions were illegal, criminal and unconstitutional and like your typical tyrant, Lincoln wanted him jailed like he did all reporters that challenged his authority under the 1st amendment and jailed them without a trial and used the military to close down newspapers. Sounds very tyrannical to me in any part of the world.
You are allowed to disagree with Supreme Court decisions. That does not mean that you were disagreement reflects current reality of the state of the law.

Yeah, I'm sure many people disagreed with the S.C. and were ran over by the government military machine and tyranny. It's in the history books. We read it and debate it so it doesn't repeats itself. We don't defend it or sugar coat it but We are not talking 2022. We are talking 1861 and if Lincoln was a "great" President? I'm sure if Japan won WW 2, they would have made their abuses and tyranny legal and their emperor the greatest leader of the century. I'm sure if King George won the war, their actions would have been legal by their courts and schools and the colonies traitors. Your point?

Lincoln won the war and the victors write their history and how they paint themselves.

This thread has devolved from discussing History into some kind of discourse not appropriate for the History forum, with many off topic posts and a level of vitriol that we seldom see in this forum.

I can't see any reason for this to continue.
