Alright Trudy Rose i have a question for you ......as i was reading about the Saxon Wars in the late 700's to the early 800's as one of your historical hero's Charlemagne (Father of Europe) declared war on the pagan saxons and since i know you also like the saxons i'm wondering if he is he still your icon . The saxons gave him the title ''butcher of saxons'' as he had 4,500 beheaded for practicing paganism.

Anyway it was an interesting wiki read about the saxons and charlemagne at that time era and wanted to get your take on it.

That is very interesting..And yes, he is still on my top 10 list
It was interesting about the term "Beheading" and "Exile" being so close that they could have been confused.. and no evidence of such a large massacre..but if the Saxons were exiled.. where would that have been to? As Charlemagne did "re-settle" other groups and those were recorded...And as the Saxons did continue to fight for another 2 years...my guess is that he did behead them.. but probably not 45,000!! And how about that Fastrada...almost as impressive as Boudica!!!

I'd like to have seen Fastrada vs Boudica in a one on one battle .

Speaking of Boudica what's hard to understand is that supposedly 80,000 Iceni warriors died against General Suetonius along Watling street (main british roadway back then) in proximity to Mancetter, England and yet archaeologists have never found any bones from the battle.
