I have some other great moments in "Democratic Racist History" that I'd like to share:
1. In 1941, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signs Executive Order 8802 desegregating all defense plants producing or manufacturing war materiel' on behalf of the United States of America. (No President had ever insisted on this before)
2. In 1948, President Harry S. Truman signs Executive Order 9981, desegregating the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines. (Prior to this time black soldiers could only serve in special segregated units--generally with white officers)
3. In 1957, than senate majority leader, Lyndon B. Johnson, manages to push the first civil rights bill through the United States Senate. This bill is the first real attempt to secure the vote or suffrage for black people denied this constitutional right by many states in the deep south.
4. In 1960, presidential candidate, John F. Kennedy, calls Coretta Scott King (wife of Martin Luther King) who is imprisoned in jail for advocating civil rights. (it is noteworthy that GOP presidential candidate Richard Nixon lacked the courage to do the same thing).
5. In 1962, President John F. Kennedy, used a contingent of U.S. Marshalls to guarantee the admission of James Meredith, a black student, at the University of Mississippi who had been admitted to Ole' Miss by court order.
6. In 1964, President Lyndon B. Johnson secures congressional passage of a far-reaching piece of legislation, "The Civil Rights Act of 1964". This law guarantees blacks and other minorities protection against job discrimination, and discrimination by restaurants, hotels and other businesses.
7. In 1965, President Lyndon B. Johnson secures passage in Congress of the "Voting Rights Act of 1965". This guarantees minorities the right to vote in all fifty states.
8. Also, in 1965, President Lyndon B. Johnson, signs Executive Order 11246, requiring all contractors doing business with the federal government to establish minority hiring programs.
9. In 1967, President Lyndon B. Johnson, appoints Thurgood Marshall to the Supreme Court. Marshall becomes the first black to be appointed to the Supreme Court.
10. In 1968, President Lyndon B. Johnson, signs the "Fair Housing Act of 1968" which prohibits discrimination against minorities in purchasing or renting homes and imposes penalties on landlords, real estate agents, and banks who discriminate against minorities over housing issues.
Everyone of these Presidents was a Democrat. The last civil rights achievement a republican president can claim occurred when the Emanicipation Proclamation was signed in 1863.
Hugo Black who this video describes served on the U.S. Supreme Court and achieved an admirable record. Among other things, he voted in Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka to prevent school districts from racially segregating students in schools. Black became the sort of "liberal" supreme court justice that now turns the stomachs of staunch rightwingers.
In the last three presidential elections 2000, 2004, and 2008, an average of ninety percent (90%) of African Americans voted for the democrat for President.
You said "I guess they know who is on their side."
Quite a debatable topic.
But how come it's about "taking sides"? If you on a "side" then I'd debate you're not on Team-American.
FDR also signed the law that is now codified at Public No. 271, 74th Congress; 49 Stat. 620 which has forever changed this Country in a non-racist way.
How will the future look upon that which is happening by and through the current Adminstration and Congress?

Nothing debatable about it. Blacks vote for Democrats in overwhelming numbers because they've learned that Republicans are still in love with Lee Atwater's Southern Strategy, which basically said 'lets go for the angry white vote and to hell with the blacks'.
