I'm interested in getting into this. But as a beginner I don't know where to start or where to get doll making kits or patterns. Any advice?

That is a wonderful thing to get into. I would suggest, althought I've never done it, to do what my grandmother did. She purchased patterns and cut them out of cloth. She purchased china dolls and dressed them up. When she passed several years ago, they all dissapeared, even before her funeral. I guess the neighbors were more interested in her belongings then they they were her respect.

I've mad a couple of cloth dolls. One was a draft stopper, quite large. It was adorable!
I sewed the doll, assembled it, made all the clothes, with petticoat and apron, too!

If you sew, go to a sewing store and look at the pattern books - they all have craft sections in the book with patterns you can buy. If you don't sew, use the easy 'jiffy sew' type glues (fabric glue) that comes in a bottle.

You can find patterns and the glue at Wal-Mart if you don't have a sewing store nearby.
