What would be a conservative amount of money- yet without doing anything boring like just playing the slots- to devote to two nights at a casino? Basically, an amount where if I could not devote X dollars to gambling then not to even bother?
It depends what you want to play - table games require more money than slots by far, and table games on a Saturday night require more money than a slower night. What nights will you be there and what do you want to play? Are you planning to play all night, or just a couple hours in between dinner and a show?
I'd say $150 to $300 minimum for table games. I only go once a year but spend about 70 or 80 so dollars, not including food and some saltwater taffy for coworkers and friends. $30 on the progressive million dollar slots, another $20 on dollar or 50 cent poker, another $20 on dollar or quarter slots at random. If I win right off I might quit or put more in. Now they have penny slots where you could play for a couple hours on $20. You can walk the boardwalk, and they have some good malls ( Ocean One and the Tropicana Cuban Quarter) and the beaches aren't bad in summer.
My favorite casinos: The Tropicana, Trump Plaza and Bally's Wild West.
Just wondering, is there anything to do in Atlantic City besides gambling, not a gambler and just wanted to know if theres anything else in regards to the boardwalk, shops, events that makes it worse visiting for a weekend trip just to get out of NYC, thanks.
Play the roulette wheel. It's a mathematical equation. 1/38 if you cover 2/3 of the table you should win 2 out of 3 times.
The payoff for a straight up bet is 35:1. Your odds of hitting a number straight up are 38:1.
Here's an example using your strategy. We'll go nine spins with 24 numbers covered, and you hit your number 2/3 of the time. We'll leave the 0/00 out of it in this example, but their being there reduces your chance of winning even more - it's what gives them their edge on the outside bets.
$24 bet per spin, times 9 spins = $216
$35 win, straight up, 6 times = $210 + $6 (your original bets)
So using your system, after nine spins, you're even. The problem is that you're not taking into account the 0/00 - those extra numbers DO hit, and they're what give the house their edge. WHEN one of them hits, you lose $24, and using your system, you never get it back.
Roulette has one of the highest house edges in the casino. It's my favorite table game, but I never play it. You may as well just write the casino a check.

Reason: fixed my example

I like Bally's Wild West, too, except that there are never enough Let-it-Ride tables.

Lots of shows--music, comedy, etc. Also an aquarium and museums. There's a shopping area called "The Walk".
Individual hotels might have special events going on as well. A lot of people go to gamble and bring family members who don't and they recognize that, so there are other things to do for the non-gamblers. Some of the hotels have really nice indoor pools, too.
