Hoping the Sabres can take out Philly...Hoping the Hawks can get the series back to Chicago. And yeah, the Wings look good - I think they can beat Vancouver if it comes to that.
Let's go Red Wings, let's go! Not only is this their 20th consecutive play-off appearence, the best in any sport, but this was also their 57 consecutive play-off game of 4 goals or more.
15 years ago Detroit knocked Winnipeg out of the play-offs in Round 1, was the last game the Jets played in Canada before moving the franchise to Phoenix. So is tonight's game a deja vu? Are the Coyotes going back to Canada? Bettman says no, but we'll see.
I've been following them for a long time (since 1984) but I'm thinking something is not right in your quote. For example, they only scored one goal against the Pens in Game 7 in 2009. That was fewer than 57 games ago. Did you mistype a number?
I saw the highlights of the NYR/Caps game; the Caps' 3rd-period goals were bizarre, to say the least--not a good-looking shot among any of them, and I feel badly for Lundquist, who really didn't deserve to lose in such a fashion..
Was out to dinner last night so I missed most of the action:
Coming out of the restaurant, saw the beatdown the Hawks put on the Canucks. I watched the replay this morning and the Hawks just came out with intensity.
For Luongo to give up 10 goals in 2 games, it is uncharacteristic to say the least. Scene shifts back to United Center for game 6, can the Hawks complete the comeback?
Montreal/Boston is turning into a classic with each team winning on the visitors building.
First, the Flyers overcome 2 garbage goals by Buffalo in the first 4 minutes to send the game into OT only to be beaten 4-3. Buffalo now leads the series 3-2.
Second, the Predators score with the goalie pulled in the last .35 then score in OT to take a 3-2 series lead against the Ducks. It was the first game 5 win for the Predators who now head back to Nashville.
The Lightning finally found a scoring touch, Stamkos with a pair and the Bolts put 7 on the board chasing Fleury and winning 8-2. Pens still lead 3 games to 2 but scene goes back to St. Pete-Times Forum.
The Caps did something they haven't done in 13 years which is win a series in 5 games beating the Rangers 3-1 to close out the series 4-1. Green, Ovechkin and Semin with the goals. Caps now get to heal with Green hurt (again) and wait to see results of other series.
Boston and Montreal continues to be the best series so far. Both teams playing great with Bruins winning 2-1 in the second OT. Tim Thomas made incredible saves in this game to keep Boston in it and series moves back to the Bell Centre for game 6.
Unfortunately, the Bruins/Habs game took so long we didn't see the first period of the Sharks/Kings. Sharks made costly turnovers that the Kings cashed in for an early 3-0 lead that held for a 3-1 final. Jonathan Quick was fabulous in this game for the Kings setting a franchise record with 51 saves.
Well the Western conference is 3/4 complete as the Sharks beat the Kings in OT to win the series 4-2.
Meanwhile in the Eastern conference the Lightning defeat the Pens 4-2 making another game 7. If Habs beat Bruins tomorrow night then 3 of the 4 series will be game 7 series.
I will have the extra popcorn handy for tomorrow's blockbuster games, should be great action.
