I mean, the Sens have Karlsson, yet they're still trash this season. I doubt anyone can really say Anderson is bad. Heck, even Condon is good (as far as backups go.)
One or two good defensemen can't do it all. Centers need to backcheck, wingers need to be aggressive on the points, the coaches need to draw up different plays depending on who they're playing against...

The Pens have been very mediocre so far this season, despite having elites like Crosby Kessel and Malkin, and Murray in goal. A team can only be as good as the one who draws the plays.

There is a lesson here. Looks like the rags tried to copy the 1990s-2000s Devils and build a contender around a star goaltender. This only really worked for the Devils because they had that trap defense AND the goaltender. The teams that have tried this:
  1. Rags - Lundquist
  2. Habs - Price

Have all failed to capture the cup.

Yep, and both become absolute trash when their goalie is either injured or not putting up godly performances.

So how do you explain Raanta's numbers last year or Talbot's numbers the prior?
Such a tired argument that Hank is putting up godly performances. Here is a fact, he's not.
What he needs to do though, as one of the highest paid NHL goalies, is to stop letting in softies that put his team in catch up mode.
I am not saying Hank isn't a good goalie, but he has a good team in front of him that has been consistently good. There isn't an NHL team in history that won that consistently because their goalie stood on his head every night.

Elite yes, KING? No. Him and Price, IMO will go down as 2 of the greatest to never win a cup. Henrik has carried that team for so long, there window is also closing with him. But, KING is not a label I would use, I find it unfair as well.

Because the Rangers are always playing in the WTC. They need to mix it up more.

Lundqvist reaches 20(or more) wins for an unprecedented 13th season in a row.
Congrats, & Hail to the King ~

Now with NHL record for consistency, where does Lundqvist rank among modern goaltenders? | The Hockey News
